The Africa CEO Forum 2019

The 2019 Africa CEO Forum was inaugurated at Kigali, Rwanda on the 25th March 2019 at the Kigali Convention Center. The forum was inaugurated by Paul Kagame, President of Rwanda. The President of the Democratic Republic of Congo Felix Tshisekedi, Ethiopian President Sahle-Work Zewde, and Togolese President Faure Gnassingbé, graced the event.

The two-day summit attracted 1,800 participants from all over the globe including 4 Heads of states and 28 ministers. Investors, CEOs, heads of large financial institutions and participants from 69 Countries worldwide, including 23 African Countries were present at the event.

The summit was organised by Jeune Afrique Media Group and Rainbow Unlimited. Co-hosted by IFC, the two-day Forum was themed on regional integration, ease of doing business in Africa for promoting private sector growth. The Forum presented an opportunity for African companies to discuss the implementation of the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA). CFTA was established to facilitate the implementation of the free trade area to drive private sector growth.

In his opening remarks, President Kagame referred to the forum as a timely platform to discuss mechanisms on how to make the most of the Continental Free Trade Area (CFTA) treaty. iSON was amongst the nominees for the “Africa Champion Award”. This nomination represented iSON’s global presence and its proven technology practices across the globe. This indeed is a moment of pride for iSON as the leading customer experience provider in Africa.

“Open responsiveness and accountable governments are critical in driving the continent’s economic integration agenda. Therefore, the private sector should notice what needs to be changed, (and) share it with those in the public sector to able to move forward,” he said, adding that implementation of the recently signed treaty especially at national level will constant dialogue and flexibility from both the public and the private sector”, added President Kagame.

“We don’t have any time to waste to do what is necessary,” he added marking the importance of regional integration in Africa.

The participants had a great time discussing businesses in detail. Many companies were able to hold meetings and finalise deals at the summit. Hearty Congratulations to Ethiopian Airlines, winner of the African Champion Award that was awarded during the Gala Dinner at the Conference Centre, Kigali Africa Hall.
